Terra was the first city in the Realms to get autoquests,
and they are geared towards newer players to introduce them to the area
around Terra and give them a chance to fight off some evil in the service of
the King! There are two basic kinds of quests, returning an NPC and
returning an item. King Grunthow gives out the following quests: (click on
the name to jump to the guide)
Warding Amulet - Return Item
Vetran Ambassador - Return NPC
Mushroom Man Infestation - Return Item
Prince Mavin Escort - Return NPC
Prince Mavin Lost - Return NPC
Prince Mavin Kidnapped - Return NPC
Antique Broach - Return Item
Terran Flag - Return Item
Goblin Siege - Return Item
Treatise Scroll - Return Item
Fencing Sword - Return Item
Each quest awards you with experience and gold. Rewards
are given out to everyone in the party with the person returning the item or
NPC. If you're alone you get the full amount of reward, otherwise the prize
is evenly split between each person in the party. For NPC returning quests
you simply have to walk into the room with the NPC following in your party
to get the reward. For item returning quests you need to type out the
command to give King Grunthow the item. Remember, you must type the full
item name, but you can abbreviate the King's name.

Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: Long ago a gang of pirates used to ravage the ships
that departed from Terra's docks. My father sent his most elite of fighting
ships out to stop them, and they sunk his ship on the coral just northwest
of Vetra and The pirates managed to escape with their treasure. My father
wore a warding amulet for good luck that he had promised to me someday,
but alas the amulet was never recovered.
Travel to the Island of Vetra north from the Terra Docks. There is a 20
gold fee for passage. Make your way to the western coast of the island and
look for a cave entrance. The amulet is dropped by a cave crab in the corals but you need a coral
key dropped by a king cave crab to get into the room where the cave crab is.
I need more info on this quest, so if you can tell me the exact room where the
cave crab that drops the amulet is, I would appreciate it.
End statement:
From King Grunthow: By Targos, you've found my father's warding amulet! I
thought it was lost forever! Thank you SO much!!!
Reward:
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: Chief Rolkan has sent word that the ambassador of Vetra
wishes to seek audience with the city of Terra. The ambassador is seeking an
escort to bring him safely here. You will be rewarded for your effort.
Travel to the island of Vetra by going north from the docks of Terra. The
passage costs 20 gold. From there travel just north or west of the docks
and locate the small village of Vetra. At the very northernmost end of the
village you'll find the Chief's Hut where Chief Rolkan and Ambassador Damethes are
waiting for you. Invite the Ambassador to join your party by typing "/invite
ambassador damethes" (you can abbreviate that) and he will automatically join your party.
Lead him back to the Terran Throne room and upon entering the room, the quest
will be completed.
End statement:
From King Grunthow: Many thanks for helping the Ambassador to arrive safely!
Reward: 20,000 experience points and 1,000 gold
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: A colony of Mushroom Men has infested the sewers beneath
Terra and has become an intolerable nuisance. Kill their king and bring me his
head and you will be richly rewarded.
Enter the Terran Sewers through the grate in the Seedy Alley behind the Tavern
and travel south and east to the previously blocked off passage that leads to
the Mushroom Man Caves. The Mushroom King resides in a dead end room on
the north side of the caves. See the Terra AQ
Map for entrances and his location. Slay him and collect the mushroom king's head
he drops to show Grunthow you've cleared up the problem.
End statement:
From King Grunthow: Thank you so much for ridding the city of this nuisance!
Reward: 10,000 experience points and 1,000 gold
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: My grandson Mavin needs an escort home from his daily
fencing lessons. He studies under the Duel Master in the CornerStone Inn. It
would be a huge favor if you could escort him here safely.
Prince Mavin will be waiting for you in the Waiting Room of the Duel Master's
Dojo near the Cornerstone Inn. Invite him to your party by typing "/invite
prince mavin" and he will automatically join your party. Travel with him
quickly back to the city as he's young, with little health and susceptible to
attacks from monsters and evil players.
End statement:
From King Grunthow: I see you've brought my grandson back safely, many thanks!
Reward: 10,000 experience points and 1,000 gold
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: My grandson Mavin was playing behind the tavern today
and I'm afraid he may have fallen into the sewers. He is probably wandering down
there somewhere, lost and afraid. If you could return him to me I would be
greatly in your debt!
You'll find Prince Mavin just a few steps north and east from the entrance grate
that can be accessed in the Seedy Alley behind the Tavern. Invite Mavin
into your party by typing "/invite prince mavin" and escort him back to his
father by his ear so he can get a good talking to. That kid just can't
stay out of trouble!
End statement:
From King Grunthow: So you've found our naughty little prince! A thousand
thanks for bringing him back to me safely!
Reward:
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: My grandson Mavin, third heir in line to the throne
of Terra, has been kidnapped by a group of dark goblins. It is believed that
they are holding him in the goblin village on the island of Vetra. I would be
forever in your debt if you could rescue him and bring him back.
The evil Goblins of Vetra have poor Prince Mavin in a dank prison cell.
Travel to the island of Vetra by going north from the Terra docks. There
is a 20 gold fee for passage. Make your way west along the shore til you
see a sandy path leading to the Goblin Village. Continue north til you
reach the Throne Room. The Goblin Cheiftan here should drop Dual Claws, a
good Cleric and Druid weapon for beginners. I need more details on this
quest, so if you can provide exact rooms or maps, it would be most appreciated.
The
Goblin's prison is down under the Throne Room, and you'll need the decrepit key dropped by a
Goblin Jailer there to get Mavin out of his cell. Once you've invited him into
your party (just type "/invite prince mavin") get him back to his worried father
quickly. He'll be vulnerable to attacks from monsters and evil players
until you get off the island.
End statement:
From King Grunthow: MAVIN!!! I cannot thank you enough, myself and the city of
Terra are forever in your debt!
Reward:
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: An antique broach that has been in my family for
generations was recently stolen by a thief inside the palace. The thief was
subsequently caught and hanged, however he did not possess the broach. It is
rumored that he sold the broach to a gang of Kobolds shortly before his capture,
and that these Kobolds have built a Warren beneath the Terran Sewers. Supposedly
this warren has two entrances and stretches all the way to the Terran caves.
This broach was prized by my mother and is the only possession I have of hers.
I would be forever grateful if you could somehow recover it for me.
The Kobold Warrens can be accessed from the Cave that's just off the path from
Terra to Duskan, or through the Terran Sewers. See the Terra AQ
Map for the entrances. Search the Warren for the Large Bunker that
holds the Kobold Leader and many of his followers. You can kill him if you
want. He drops the Dark Cutlass which is a good sword for new players;
better than anything you can buy in Terra. To finish the quest you're
after one of the many Kobolds in the room, so you'll need to kill them all until
one drops the broach that you need to return to Grunthow.
End statement:
From King Grunthow: You've FOUND it!!! I cannot thank you enough, and my
mother's spirit thanks you as well!
Reward: 20,000 experience points and 2,000 gold!!!
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: A merchant caravan carrying a delivery for the city of
Terra was ambushed by bandits recently. The caravan was to deliver a handmade
silken flag made by the Head Seamstress of Duskan, which was stolen in the raid.
Rumor has it that the bandits have set up camp in the Terran forest to the south
of here. If you could recover our flag I will make it well worth your effort.
This quest requires some equipment. Make sure to bring a rope with you, to
escape the traps the bandits have set up around their camp. Travel south
of Terra, continue south at the fork in the road until you come to a place that
indicates an opening in the bushes to the west. It's just a few steps from the gates,
so don't go too far.
When you go west through the bushes, then west again, you'll fall into a trap and you'll need your rope to get out.
Once up, go west again. Search the clearings around you for the Bandit Captain
and slay him. He will drop a terran flag that you can return to Grunthow.
When leaving the camp, you'll hit the same traps, climb up, then go east and
you'll be back on the road. (see Terra AQ
Map)
End statement:
From King Grunthow: Wonderful! Our new flag can now be proudly flown high
above Terra! Thank you so much!
Reward: 10,000 experience points and 2,000 gold
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: A group of goblins has beseiged Terra! They are
storming our city gates as we speak! Please slay these foul beasts and bring
me the head of their leader. You will be rewarded for your bravery!
Do this quest as quickly as you possibly can. The Goblins spawn just south
of the gates, and there are often several high level players there, dueling or
hanging out. They have been known to kill the Goblin Chieftain and take
the head he drops to keep people from finishing the quest.
Run directly south from the throne room as fast as you can, straight through the
players and the goblins will follow you south. Kill the Chieftain there
and get his head to return to Grunthow.
End statement:
From King Grunthow: I thank you for your courage and bravery! At last
this seige has come to an end!
Reward:
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: One of our messengers was recently ambushed by a band
of orcs in the Terran forest to the north of here. The messenger did manage to
escape, however a scroll containing the proposed treatise of our trade
agreement with Fortune was stolen. It is imperative that we get this scroll
back as soon as possible, as Fortune's leader grows increasingly vexed at our
delay!
Travel to the Sylvan Forest just west of the city. Find the Forest
Clearing with a large collection of Orcs and kill the Chieftan. He will
drop a treatise scroll. Return it to King Grunthow.
End statement:
From King Grunthow: Thank you so much for finding the treatise! Now we may
convene with Fortune and settle our trade disagreements!
Reward: 20,000 experience points and 1,000 gold
Trigger Statement:
From King Grunthow: Prince Mavin has come of age to begin learning the
ways of a warrior and needs a fencing sword suitable for a Prince to begin his
lessons. As it happens, Faldur BlackHammer, the famed dwarven smith of Duskan,
is staying at the Cornerstone Inn while visiting the Duel Master. Faldur is an
age old family friend and would be honored to oblige if you simply tell him
Prince Mavin needs a fencing sword. The CornerStone Inn lies through the forest
to the southeast. I will gladly reward you for your time.
Travel to the Waiting Room of the Duel Masters Dojo in the Cornerstone Inn and
tell Faldur
BlackHammer (by using the /d command) "Prince Mavin needs a fencing sword." He will
then drop the sword. Return it to King Grunthow.
End statement:
From King Grunthow: Thank you so much! This will be a fine blade for
Prince Mavin - he's going to be quite the nobleman someday!
Reward: 20,000 experience points and 1,000 gold
