Role Playing Guide to Statistics
Strength: This is a measurement of how muscle-bound your character is
and is usually a good indication of their general physical size, much as it
says in character descriptions in game. Are you slim and slightly built,
or do you look incredibly strong, etc.?
Intelligence: Intelligence is
a measure of "book smarts." (Can you read a book in the first place, can you do math,
problem solve, are you knowledgeable, etc.?) You can be intelligent without being wise. You could
know the fire will burn you but touch it anyway. You could understand the
dangers of a dark alley but go down it anyway.
Agility: This is an indication of your character's hand-eye
coordination and how well they dodge and attack in battle. It is also a
good indication of how graceful and quick your character should be.
Endurance: The
physical robustness of your character. The amount of abuse their body can take more or less.
Wisdom: Wisdom is more of the category of "street smarts" (Do you understand petting a hell hound is not a good idea, do you forget fire is hot and have to touch it every so often to remind
yourself, etc.?) You can be wise without being intelligent. Wisdom would help you know who you can trust, which dark alleys are safe and which are not. It's a help in knowing what the proper thing to do or reaction is.
Charisma: It's not really an indication of how good looking you are,
but more a measure of your personality - your personal magnetism or charm.
Strong leaders, mediators or people who are popular and get along well with different
kinds of people would be examples of high Charisma.
For reference, 20 is usually considered an "average" stat, meaning someone with
18 intelligence is somewhat below average in intelligence, someone with 20
agility has average agility, etc.
