Storytelling Contest

Storytelling Contests are held each month but the actual date and time vary. A highbrow event where people are expected to behave themselves and be respectful to the contestants, it is not for those with short attention spans. New sets of contestants tell their story each month so that all may have a chance to be heard.

When: Once each month. Specific times and dates must be found in the Cornerstone Inn forum.

Where: The Grove Theatre. Behind the Cornerstone Inn, along the path and north of the fountain.  A ticket will be granted at the gate for admittance.

Participation: Contestants are chosen from a sign up sheet posted in the Inn's tavern each month. Spectators are all welcome to walk there and enjoy the day listening to the tales.

Rules: Storytellers are asked to restrict their tales to subject matter appropriate to the time and setting of the Realms.  Each Contestant is given ten minutes in which to woo the audience and judges with their mastery. There are no other restrictions on content or style as creativity and variety is strongly encouraged.

The number of Judges varies but is always at least three.  Judging is on a scale of one to ten, and all scores are kept strictly secret.  Former contest winners are invited to judge future contests, but may not compete till after the Championship. The Contest Host will announce the winner, or in the event of a tie, privately poll selected audience members for a tiebreaker.

After six contests a Championship is held where the previous winners are compete to select a Master Storyteller.
