WidowMaker

Due to the way current lag inibits monsters from functioning properly, this event has been put on hold for the time being.

The Widow Maker is a combination event mixing in some of the attributes of a mosh, the TGC, BQoBD, and good ol' monster slaying. Teams of twelve people are rallied against one another in 2 vs 2 battles, then moving on afterwards to various levels of monsters to win bigger and better prizes! Exciting, isn't it?

Where: Widowmaker Arena

Participation: The event will be announced at least 1 hour before commencing. At this time you should start gathering your teams and decide upon a team captain. Your team MUST have 12 total players, one of each class, no exceptions, period. Alts will not be allowed, and if you are caught using an alt it will result in permanent expulsion from this event!

After the hour, a RoK riddle or question will be asked. The first two team captains *And captains ONLY* that answer correctly will get their teams in. If only one or no one gets the answer right, the default will be the two first team captains to page *Thus intellect is preferable but if you just don't know, speed is an asset*

Rules: Teams consist of twelve players, one of each of the different 12 classes of characters. Out of one of these there is a team captain. The captain needs to be selected BEFORE the event, in order to get your team in. Each of these characters must be at least 20th lvl, and may use any type of equipment they desire EXCLUDING divinity weapons *Thus, all other questies are allowed*.

Players are not allowed to use potions or mana for the first stage but may use any ability or spell they desire, excluding Summoning and Area Affect spells since this would harm captains before they are in the contest.

Stage One:

The two teams will be warped into separate and locked locker rooms to decide upon strategy. 12 keys will be distributed to the teams, one for each player in the team on each side. When you are done deciding on your tactics, the team captains will enter the main arena and the event begins.

The team captains will dictate 2 people to start for each side, excluding themselves *see below*. As people on their team die, they can order a new participant into the arena by paging that person and having them enter. At all times there should be 2 dueling players of each team in the arena if the team has 2 or more left. Only when there are no other team members to order in should the team captain take place as a duelist *IE: When there is one member in the arena and none left in the locker room*. If at any time a non-authorized person enters the arena, such as a third person when there are already 2 duelists for that team, the extra member will be killed by staff. So be careful when you move!

As stated earlier, no potion or mana source use at this time; however, players may heal themselves or team mates and cast any spells or use any abilities they have available. Potion use includes stat modding potions, but stat mod potions MAY be used BEFORE entering the arena, just not WHILE in the arena. IN the arena we must also ban summoning and area attacks as the Captains would be susceptible to them and that cannot be allowed.

When one team is entirely eliminated, the other team has successfully won the first stage of the Widowmaker!

At this point, they can decide to take their prizes and leave, or they may forego their prize and move to Stage 2. Prizes are all or nothing; if you decide to move to the next step, you forfeit the prize of the round before. ALL team members win a prize, whether dead or alive, IF they get the prize for the step they're on.

Prize for Stage 1: Stat mod potion for every team member.

Stage 2:

If the team captain decides to move on, no prizes are given and the team is given a key to enter the Zoo area. The team captain's decision is final. We only accept the team captain's input so discuss it with him or her, not us.

Now that your team has entered Stage 2, you may use all potions/mana sources and items.

At this point the remnants of your team are pitted against a powerful monster. If defeated, they drop a key to move to the next stage. If the team moves to the next stage, they forfeit the prize for this stage! So move carefully!

Prize for Stage 2 is a low level one a day appropriate to class *m staves, diamond daggers, ant-skin armor, steel swords, etc*, one for each team member.

Stage 3:

This is essentially the same as Stage 2, with a harder monster to beat.

Prize for Stage 3: High One a Day appropriate to class for each member of the team. *Staff decides what's appropriate, no arguments*

Final Stage:

This is the final and toughest monster to beat.

Prize for completing Final Stage: Special event items, with one for each class, one for each member of the team. These will be slightly better than high level one a days.

Last Few Things:

In any dispute of rules, event staff have the final say.

There is a way to backstab from each area, but all areas are locked, thus, you cannot move backwards, nor can you retrieve members if they are for whatever reason left behind. This is part of the teamwork aspect of the event, and you will NOT receive a warp or other consideration if you happen to leave a member behind *Even if this is due to a lag out*

In the event of a disconnect during stage 1 in the arena, the d/c'd player will be given 5 minutes to return, with no fighting occurring during the wait. If they do not return in that time, they will be disqualified and considered dead for the event.

If you enter the event, you are expected to stay for the event. We will not substitute players for other players once the first stage has begun. If you are required to leave for whatever reason, you will be warped out of the arena and considered dead for the remainder of the event, although you will still receive a prize if your team wins.

In the case of an additional player entering the arena and thus being disqualified and killed, that member will NOT receive a prize.

If the event is postponed due to a server down, we will usually give it one hour to come back up, at which point all combat will continue at the point of the event you were at before the downtime. Players will all be healed but any lost potions or players that died due to lag, etc, will NOT be warped back. If the server stays down longer, you will receive prizes for your team equal to the level you achieved before the server went down; thus if you were fighting in Stage 3, you would receive prizes for beating Stage 2. This is an issue with trying to get a fairly large group together again after a significant downtime; coordinating such things is time consuming and all together a hassle. If both teams were still present in Stage 1, no prizes will be given out but both teams will be invited to participate at an alternate time as designated by the event coordinator.

Prizes, besides the Final Stage prizes, come undecked. Deal with it.

You are expected to enter the event ready to go. Don't ask afterwards for warps to your alts or house to pick up equipment, extra time to buy potions, etc.

This will be a standard weekly event set on a specific day. However, the TIME at which it is run is entirely up to the event coordinator and may be run early or late depending on their whim and convenience. Do not page other staff asking for times for Widow Maker.

Announcements will be made regarding the team(s) progress. Do not page any staff, especially event staff, regarding their status.

If, after the hassle of gathering you all together, your team doesn't meet qualifications, you will be disqualified and the next eligible team will be selected. The only exception is if one of your team members disconnected, in which case they are given five minutes to reconnect or your entire team is disqualified. Be careful who you choose for your team!

Furthermore. When entry question is broadcast and answered, the two winning captain's names will be broadcast at the same time. Captains should immediately send their team list to who they are told. Teams will be warped in as quickly as possible (remember, you were suppose to prepare BEFOREHAND.) If both teams somehow have the same member listed, the first captain who paged his list will have the right to that player and only that captain. The other team will be declared ineligible to compete due to not having all 12 classes represented. CHOOSE YOUR TEAM CAREFULLY.

Any breach of the rules of Widow Maker will disqualify your character from future competitions in it, unless there is a specific notation on the situation above. No exceptions.
